Southern Waterbeds & Futons is a locally owned and operated brick and mortar retail store in Athens, Georgia. We specialize in waterbeds, oak bedroom furniture, futons, memory foam mattresses, adjustable beds and Georgia Bulldog room decor. Waterbeds

Southern Waterbeds is the oldest waterbed store in Georgia, and maybe the south, with 45 years of hands on experience. We have five hardside waterbed and five softside waterbed models on display for you to "Test Rest". Most all of our waterbeds, parts and accessories are in stock so you can "buy it today" and "pick it up today". Bring your pick up truck!

Oak Bedroom Furniture

We specialize in functional, hardwood bedroom furniture that's Made In America. We love American made oak furniture and half of the store is devoted to displaying it. In addition to the case goods, our collection features pier wall headboards, bookcase headboards and drawer pedestal bases for adding lots of storage underneath your bed. All headboards and drawers are designed to accommodate any conventional mattress or one of our softside waterbeds.

Futons, Futons, Futons!

Futons are perfect when you or your guests need a comfortable place to sit, recline, rest or sleep. So versatile you can utilize them in your office, den, bonus room, game room, basement or your Georgia Bulldog room. Our Futon Gallery features a large selection of easy to operate hardwood futon frames, deluxe futon mattresses and durable futon covers. All are in stock and ready for immediate pick up!

Memory Foam Mattresses

A memory foam mattress is closest thing you can get to a waterbed without the water and they work great on our adjustable beds. Come take a "Test Rest" today!

Adjustable Beds

The perfect solution for anyone that needs to sleep with their upper body, lower body or both in an elevated position. Our adjustable bed bases are easy to adjust by remote control while in or out of bed.

Come Test Rest Our Beds, Please!

We understand that buying any kind of bed is a big decision and a good Test Rest is a very important part of the process. Here are some suggestions that will help you enjoy your Test Rest and can help you make the right decision about your next bed:

1. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing to try beds out in.
2. Ladies, you might not want to wear a short skirt.
3. Lie down on the side you normally sleep on at home.
4. If you use a special pillow every night, bring it. Teddy bears, too!
5. Couples, try beds together. Beds feel different with two people in them.
6. Test Rest several mattresses for at least fifteen minutes each.
7. We will leave you alone so you can relax in bed as long as you like.
8. If you fall asleep, and that happens, we will wake you at closing!
